A weblog specially set up by two medical students who got "tricked"
into their course. Here we will post our thoughts about various things
under the sun, not necessarily medically related...haha :) Ok lah, frankly
it's just a way to keep our sanity...

Cyanide / CN-
chemically, a colourless gas, rapidly acting and quite deadly...but in reality, nothing like that.
here is another talented character who will definitely add a lot of colour to your life... :)

bit squishy and undecisive but nevertheless quite
determined to get this blog up and running..

C.R.P.
Both CN- and I are currently busy with CRP. What is CRP? It actually stands for Community Residency Project, but to me, it stands for Completely Redundant Project. I would rather have a real holiday break. Anyway, what happens is, we're all divided into 5 groups and posted to 5 different station around the peninsular, where we will survey the health status of the rural community there.
It's a 4 week program, with 1 week for planning, 2 weeks in situ and another 1 week of debriefing and presentations. Apart from that, we have to conduct a thematic project concurrently, which in simple language means that we have to do a separate research project while we're there. We will also be having field trips to observe septic tanks, factories, sewage and garbage disposals, and not to forget the many different types of jambans latrines. Woo hoo. I'm so "excited".. (note the sarcasm)
CN- was posted up North, while I was posted down South. The coordinator purposely did it this way, so that we will all be too far from our hometown to sneak home. Sigh. 2 weeks at some jungle is definitely not my cup of tea. We've both spent days trying to pack for 13 days in the jungle rural villages, and after drawing up a list of things to bring, it felt as if we were literally migrating there.
My senior told me that this would be some kind of relaxing "holiday"...but as for now, it seems like we have tons of work ahead of us. We have to tag the houses, interview over 200 head of households in 4 different kampungs, study the nutritional, environmental and occupational health of these people, and not to forget the thematic project. On top of that, we've gotta correlate and analyse all the data collected, produce altogether 9 reports, 2 presentations and 2 posters. Seriously, it doesn't seem like it's going to be anything near relaxing.
Anyway, maybe I'm just freaking myself out unnecessarily. Perhaps it isn't as hard or bad as it seems. Perhaps it would even be fun. Who knows? I might end up liking research work...
CN- has left today, while I will be leaving tomorrow morning to our designated place of stay for the next 2 weeks. Do pray for us. If all goes well, we might be back with tons of photos and wacky stories. Until then...cheers!
